Learning Outcome 4

Over the course of the semester peer review has been a big focus. When the year started I did not really know how much peer review could help with the writing process. I took a look back at one of the first peer reviews that we did in class to see how I have improved over the course of the year. The comments that were made by my peers were telling me to do a better job getting my paper to flow throughout the whole essay. I also received comments to find better quotes that matched what I was talking about in my paper. I looked at the comments but I never took full advantage of  what my peers had to offer. Some comments that I received from my professor was to be more specific with my thesis, also to do a better job relating my quote explanations more to my thesis statement. I also looked at the first paper that I peer reviewed. I had Taylor’s essay and the comments that I made on her paper were mostly comments saying how I liked her paper. Looking back at that now I should have been more constructive and providing more information on what she could have done better. I also looked at the most recent peer reviews that I did and saw a lot of improvement. I worked with Kate on the final paper and I saw that I provided more comments that would help her improve her essay such as “I think that your thesis is good but it could be more specific”. In addition I looked at what my peers had to say about my essay and the comments and they were still really helpful I learned though how to take my peers comments and use them to help improve my essay.
